Connor Wood has called for he and his City team-mates to make the most of a busy festive period - beginning with Saturday’s visit of Salford City.

The Bantams will contest four games in 12 days over Christmas, with a trip to Carlisle United on Boxing Day complimenting three home ties.

The left-back is looking forward to the games ahead and hopes Gary Bowyer’s men can use this period to further strengthen their position in Sky Bet League Two.

Wood said: “Christmas is always a very busy period, as a footballer. You do not get to really see your family much with all the games on the calendar.

“It is a hectic period with a lot of games, but we are looking forward to it, as with every year.

“Hopefully, we can put a good run of form together, over Christmas, and win as many games as possible. That would be the best present, for me.

“The best thing we can do is give our all to come out of the other end with as many points as possible to get as high in the table as we can.”

Now into his second year at the Utilita Energy Stadium, Wood has proved himself to be a valuable member of Bowyer’s squad.

The 23-year-old has started every league affair the Bantams have contested since August 17, and constantly feels himself growing as a player.

“There is a massive contrast in my mindset - from last season,” the former Leicester City man added.

“This season, I have played in a few different positions in different systems and have cemented my place in the team really, being one of the first names on the team sheet.

“I wanted to get a consistent run going and really have a big impact, this year, and I feel that is happening.

“I am a lot more confident thanks to my attitude, the players around me and, obviously, Gary (Bowyer), who has been great.

“When you are as confident as I am, at the moment, you feel untouchable - which is only positive.

“I have learnt loads, especially from the more experienced players. I have taken a lot on board over the past year and used that to improve my game.

“The challenge now is to keep continuing my progress so I can develop as much as possible.”
