BUTTERFIELD HAPPY TO OFFER 'VERSATILE OPTION'

City new-boy Jacob Butterfield is happy to offer the Bantams a “versatile option” in midfield.

The on-loan 28-year-old, who arrived at the club from Derby County on deadline day, made his home debut against Fleetwood on Saturday.

Butterfield appeared in central midfield after adopting a more attacking role during City’s 0-0 draw at Wycombe, having been introduced as a substitute.

“David (Hopkin) is happy for me to play in a number of positions.

“When I started out, I played as a No.10 but as I have got older I have dropped back a little bit.

“I am happy to play anywhere in the middle of the park but there is some flexibility.

“It might change, depending on the opposition, but, ideally, David wants me up and around the box - getting shots off and creating chances.”

Butterfield is expecting City to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Fleetwood Town.

Plymouth Argyle visit the Northern Commercials Stadium this weekend.

And victory could propel Hopkin’s Bantams up to 17th on the Sky Bet League One ladder.

“The mood remains very positive and it doesn’t feel like a club in the relegation zone,” added the former Huddersfield Town star.

“We know there is plenty of quality at the club and we are all confident of pulling away from where we are.

“My main and full focus is on this season. I want to stay in the team and help us pick up points - to keep us in the division.

“Every game is massive, it is as important as the next, and Saturday provides a big opportunity for us.”
