Richard O’Donnell is backing the Bantams to maintain the “impressive” defensive efforts of recent weeks, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Walsall.
City have managed two clean sheets in their previous three games, including last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Plymouth at the Northern Commercials Stadium.
The Bantams stopper O’Donnell is keen to see more of the same but admits City must pick up a win at Walsall.
He said: “Obviously it is nice personally to be keeping clean sheets but it is more important to get points on the board. I would sacrifice clean sheets for points at the minute.
“I don’t care if we win 5-4 or 4-3, as long as we win the games.
“We defended very well against Plymouth. They had a very dangerous front three and we managed to nullify those threats.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the breakthrough the other way but it happens throughout spells in a season.
“As a team we haven’t been at our best all year but, on our day, we are very good defensively and it has shown in recent weeks.
“We have had to become more consistent and we have - over the past month - at the back.
“The defensive platform has now been laid, which sets us up well.
“If we keep doing what we are doing and playing as we did in the second half against Plymouth, the results will come for us.”
Victory for David Hopkin’s side will allow them to move as high as 18th place in the league table, overtaking opponents Walsall in the process.
And O’Donnell says the Bantams will draw inspiration from December’s 4-0 home success over the Saddlers.
The former Walsall goalkeeper added: “It is tight down at the bottom, which makes it better for us. There are five or six teams who we can overtake with a win, which is massive.
“Having all these teams in the mix is encouraging as the games keep ticking on.
“I expected more from them in the first game against us, as it is not a Walsall team I am used to seeing.
“We beat them 4-0, so we know we can beat them again. But even then, we will have to be at our best to get the win.
“Walsall will try use the last result as motivation, so we have to be vigilant.
“There is a confidence shared amongst the side for this game and the tests we have coming up – but we know not to get complacent.”
