AWAY DAY GUIDE: BARNSLEY v BANTAMS

12 January 2019

David Hopkin's Bantams take on Barnsley this afternoon in Sky Bet League One action, at Oakwell (kick-off 3.00pm).

More than 3,400 City supporters will be heading to South Yorkshire for this afternoon's eagerly-anticipated Yorkshire derby.

SAFETY AT OAKWELL

No pyrotechnics are allowed in the stadium. Anyone caught in possession will receive a three-season ban.

Specially trained ‘sniffer dogs’ will be used at Oakwell on Saturday ahead of the Yorkshire derby with Bradford City.

The dogs will be searching for all pyrotechnics that anyone may attempt to bring into the ground.

The EFL is re-launching its commitment to tackle the use of pyrotechnics, which includes smoke bombs, flares and fireworks within EFL football grounds.

This was initially launched in November 2017 that saw all 72 Clubs sign up to a new Club Charter on Pyrotechnics.

Since the Charter was signed EFL Clubs have been taking strong and decisive action against any fans found attempting to bring a banned item into a ground, or those who discharge pyrotechnics.

Fans are further reminded about persistent standing within the ground. Standing at football matches is against ground regulations and also has a negative impact on your fellow supporters, stopping them from seeing the game.

We would like to ask for your continued cooperation on this matter.

Opened in 1888, the Oakwell Stadium is a multi-purpose sports venue hosting Barnsley FC’s sporting facilities.

The Oakwell Stadium has a maximum capacity of 23,287.

GETTING THERE

By Road…

If using SatNav, our post code is S71 1ET.

Leave the M1 at Junction 37 and take the A628 towards Barnsley. Stay on this road (Oakwell is well sign-posted) and you will eventually see the stadium on your right.

By Train…

Barnsley Interchange is about a 10 minute walk away from Oakwell. The station is served by trains running between Sheffield and Leeds/Huddersfield, and trains in both directions arrive every 25 minutes or so.

When exiting the train station turn left away from the town centre and head towards the bridge that the dual-carriageway runs over. Go under the bridge and turn left up the slip road and then take the first road on the right and head towards the Metrodome leisure centre at the top of the hill. Oakwell is now clearly visible.

PARKING

Between Oakwell Stadium and the Metrodome is a car park for visiting supporters, called the Queens Ground, which costs £5 for Cars and £20 for Coaches. This is just a couple of minutes walk from the stadium.
