Bradford City are delighted to announce the signing of Billy Clarke, who returns to the club following a spell with Sky Bet League One colleagues Charlton Athletic.

Clarke, 31, returns to the Northern Commercials Stadium - where he spent three memorable seasons from 2014 to 2017 - after agreeing a permanent deal with the Bantams.

The move will see the former Ipswich and Blackpool player stay with City until at least the end of the current season.

In his first stint with the Bantams, Clarke made 122 appearances and has scored 76 career goals.

He said: “The minute the club got in touch and showed interest, I was trying to push it as much as possible and am delighted to be back.

“It means a great deal to come back to a club where I made so many fond memories.

“Every season I was here we progressed and I am over the moon to be a Bradford player again.

“I definitely think I can offer experience and quality. I am excited to get stuck in and see what the next few weeks and months bring.

“The supporters will know, from my previous seasons at the club, every time I go out on the pitch I give 100% - and nothing less. I am right up for the fight.

“I think we have a good squad here. I was here on Tuesday evening and it was a great performance, which led to a huge result for the club.

“I have kept a close eye on Bradford over the last couple of seasons and I know where we are at.

“I have really missed it. My family still live up here and every time I drive past the stadium, I miss the feeling I used to get when you run out on the field.”

City boss David Hopkin added: “We are delighted to have Billy on board, it is great to have him back at the club.

“He will bring another dimension to our attack and force greater competition for places.

“His experience will be massive for us in the challenging weeks and months ahead - and we are looking forward to welcoming him into the squad.”

Clarke will wear No.17 and could make his second debut for the club on Saturday when Hopkin’s men travel to face Wycombe Wanderers.
