Connor Wood described the “unbelievable feeling” he experienced upon returning to Bantams action in City’s impressive 3-0 victory over Accrington.

The left-back replaced the injured Lewis O’Brien in midfield before half-time and scored City’s final goal - a left-footed screamer in front of The Kop.

Now Wood, who last appeared in November, says he is ready for more first-team action.

“It was an unbelievable feeling to be back out there”, he said.

“To grab a victory like that at home, in front of our fans, is special and we just want to keep it going.

“Midfield isn’t my strongest area but I have played there before and felt comfortable in that position, which gave me a little more freedom.

“I have been itching to get my chance back and the goal topped it off for me.”

The victory over Accrington means City have won their last four league fixtures – on home soil – seeing David Hopkin’s men top the Sky Bet League One form table.

The ex-Leicester City talent says confidence around the squad is “sky high” going into next week’s game at Barnsley.

Wood added: “We are finding our feet now, it has been coming for a while. The key is to keep it up throughout the rest of the season.

“It is a position where we are all raring to go for the next game, even after such a hectic schedule over Christmas.

“We finished 2018 with a great run of form. Now we have started the New Year with a big win.

“Confidence is sky high in the dressing room and we will need it to keep pushing up the table.”
