BANTAMS LAUNCH ESPORTS TEAM

28 July 2019

Bradford City are delighted to announce the launch of an official eSports team.

The side is due to become the first of its kind in West Yorkshire and, in doing so, will be the first Virtual Pro Gaming-sponsored side to have its own dedicated website.

ESports is a form of competition using video games usually consisting of multiplayer competitions between professional players.

Bradford City eSports will have a team of coaching staff dedicated to diligent and unbiased recruitment, before helping nurture future players.

There will also be a backroom team focused on key areas of the matchday experience, including a media team handling graphics and social media output.

Paul Rinkauskas, the general manager of Bradford City eSports, said: “As a lifelong Bradford fan, I am honoured and proud Bradford City have given me the opportunity to introduce them to eSports.

“ESports is a growing market and to be one of the early teams to join is very exciting. I am sure this will provide a great platform to expand on.

“I cannot wait to get started and lead us on this journey.”

Among the first eSports teams to be officially partnered for FIFA 20, City will use the remainder of FIFA 19 for trials, offering opportunities for anyone interested ahead of the beginning of FIFA 20.

Arron Delossa, the chief executive of Virtual Pro Gaming, added: “It is great to see Bradford City enter into eSports with Virtual Pro Gaming, becoming the first eSports team in West Yorkshire.

“I wish the best of luck to Paul Rinkauskas who will be managing the eSports team in the 11-a-side eSports leagues where many Bradford City fans can get involved.

“Global eSports is a massively growing field and featuring a team in VPG will give Bradford City a head start in tapping into this market.”
