BOWYER LOOKING FORWARD TO WIGAN TEST

19 July 2019

Gary Bowyer is looking forward to tomorrow’s visit of Sky Bet Championship side Wigan Athletic, as the Bantams gear up for their fifth pre-season outing (kick-off: 3.00pm).

The City boss is a keen admirer of Latics manager Paul Cook and believes his side will pose a “fantastic” acid test as the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign edges nearer.

He said: “Wigan will be sure to provide us with another great challenge, one I am very much looking forward to.

“I love the way in which Paul Cook, Leam Richardson and Anthony Barry go about their business. I am a big fan of the way their side set up and play.

“It is sure to be another big test for us off the ball, we are going to have to be very good in that respect.

“We are looking at being better on the ball as well and that is something we have been working on this week.”

Although Bowyer is expected to name a strong line-up, the City boss admits trialists could be included for the Utilita Energy Stadium clash - as he bids to finalise his new-look squad.

He added: “There is every chance we will give a few more of the lads we have in on trial another run out against Wigan.

“We are still trying to make a few more signings before the end of the window, which is why we have had a lot of trialists in to take a look at.

“There are one or two key areas I still feel need strengthening and it is a case of prioritising this areas over others with regards to the players we give game-time to.

“The Wigan game presents another great opportunity to take a look at different types of players we could look at bringing in.”

Supporters can pay on the gate tomorrow, with admission priced at £10 (adults), £5 (concessions) and £5 (juniors).
