City’s football and education scholarships, run by the Bradford City Community Foundation, will be based at the Utilita Energy Stadium from the beginning of the academic year - from September.

The foundation run differing types of scholarships to suit different individuals.

Ability-based schemes focus on potential professional footballers who may have slipped through the grasp of various local academies.

Other education-based programmes mix study with football, offering an enterprising alternative to college or sixth form while working towards a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.

This move now sees all students working together with Community Foundation coaches - who are also based at the ground - under one roof.

Community Foundation chairman Ian Ormondroyd said: “This is a fantastic step for the scholarship programme because it brings the education back home.

“The facilities here at the ground are fantastic and perfect for us to use, especially with the growth in numbers for this year.

“It also means we can offer scholars a fantastic experience - studying while looking out onto the pitch here at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

“We want to continue developing the different programmes, both in terms of the quality we are offering and opportunity to become involved.

“This step ensures our facilities match our vision and we are looking forward progressing further over the foreseeable future.”
