Bradford City’s under-18s side are in scoring form, continuing their pre-season preparations with a 5-1 victory over Halifax Town.

After soaking up some early Halifax pressure, the young Bantams eventually flaunted their attacking prowess, taking a 3-1 lead into the interval before adding two more in the second period.

City were under the cosh early on with the Shaymen pressing high.

However, the Bantams managed to defuse the danger and opened the scoring in the sixth minute.

After patient build up, the ball was whipped in by left-back Dan Francis and met by Polish-born trialist Olivier Sukiennicki who sent a sweet volley into the top corner.

City started to find their feet and - in the 23rd minute - made it two.

After a mix up in the Halifax defence, Connor Morris rose above the rest to head past the Halifax goalkeeper.

However, a couple of minutes later, the Shaymen were back in it.

Town's No.7 weaved into the box and got his shot away. City defender Finn Cousin-Dawson’s wicked deflection wrongfooted goalkeeper Tom Donaghy to pull the hosts back within a goal.

It did not take long, though, for the Bantams to again extend their lead, with trialist winger Larry Abolarin strutting his way into the box and drilling an effort low into the bottom corner.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the Bantams finding the net again just after the hour mark.

After miscommunication between the Halifax defender and goalkeeper, the ball bounced over the keeper’s head and cannoned off the post.

Another trialist - striker Anouar Habli - was quickest to react, delicately chipping the ball in.

City wrapped up the result in the closing stages when Kian Scales jinked his way into the box but was brought down. The referee had no choice but to award the Bantams the penalty.

Substitute Eliot Goldthorp showed composure to coolly convert from the spot and complete the romp.
