Gary Bowyer has spoken of City’s “packed diary” of pre-season fixtures, as his side edge nearer to beginning their preparations for the 2019/20 campaign.

City are due to recommence training towards the end of this month and Bowyer is pleased with the friendlies his team have penned in.

The Bantams boss is eagerly anticipating the prospect of seeing his side back out on the field.

He said: “All the pre-season games we have organised have been planned for a reason.

“Everything has been done in mind of the different types of games we will encounter throughout the course of next season.

“We are not just taking different games for the sake of it; they have been picked with good arguments behind them.

“We are really looking forward to getting going again - and there is not long to go now.”

Bowyer has analysed specific friendlies his men have on their calendar – including matches against Wigan, Rochdale and Guiseley - and has insisted each game provides an important test.

The 47-year-old added: “The initial one against Guiseley is not far away and will be our first proper run-out in an ‘11 v 11’ since last season.

“It is always good to get around your local clubs and establish a connection, which we will be doing against Eccleshill, Brighouse and Bradford (Park Avenue). The public love getting out to see the new signings.

“Then we will obviously progress and play Wigan who, in my opinion, have been playing brilliant football.

“It will be a really good test for us, both with and without the ball.

“I am looking forward to that game. It will offer us the opportunity to pit ourselves against a very good team.

“Then our trip to Rochdale will get the players in the mindset of boarding a coach and going on an away trip. We will get into the rhythm again and play against a good side.

“It will be exactly the right type of game to prepare us for the start of the season the following week.”

Ticketing information for City's upcoming pre-season fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
