Bradford City Disability's Clarets ended their season in style, lifting the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Five-A-Side Disability County Cup to complete a treble haul of trophies for the campaign.

Success in the County Cup drew the curtain on a record-breaking 2018/19 in which The Clarets also secured the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA's Ability Counts five-a-side Premiership Title and Divisional Cup.

With the score line finely poised at 2-2 after the allotted time, a fairy-tale ending to the match culminated in 59-year-old goalkeeper Steven Jowett – the club’s oldest player – announcing himself as the hero to clinch a penalty shoot-out victory.

The final - played at Hillsborough, the home of Sheffield Wednesday – was an entertaining affair which, following goals from Eddie Ratcliffe and captain Katy Greenwood, was level at full-time.

A nail-biting climax was decided by man-of-the-moment Jowett, who saved the Titans’ fifth spot-kick before slotting home an effort of his own, to bring the trophy back to West Yorkshire.

The Clarets are one of five mixed-gender, pan-disability adult teams at the club, competing across two county leagues, in addition to female, under-16 and under-12 sides.

On top of The Clarets’ County Cup triumph, the under-16 side claimed the winners’ trophy at Chelsea FC’s annual disability event, with the under-12s reaching the final of their respective ability group.

Clarets coach Paul Jubb said: “It is a fantastic achievement for the Clarets to pick up the treble.
“The club have had great success in only our second season.

“Our Ambers won the Lytham St Annes tournament, the Blues won the South Yorkshire seven-a-side League 1 title, and the ladies team got to the final of the FA People’s Cup for a second year running.

“I think it would be fair to say we are looking forward to our presentation night!”
