BOWYER CONFIDENT AHEAD OF BLACKPOOL CLASH

Gary Bowyer says his side will draw upon their previous performances on home soil, as he looks to gain a vital victory over former club Blackpool.

Bowyer’s two games at the Northern Commercials Stadium have resulted a 3-1 victory over promotion-chasing Peterborough and a narrow 1-0 loss to league-leading Luton.

Victory could move the Bantams to within three points of safety and, despite last week’s defeat at Oxford, the City manager is confident in his side’s ability.

“We addressed the Oxford game first thing on Monday morning,” said Bowyer.

“We have from now until the end of the season to control our efforts, sessions and performances on the pitch.

“Everything else, from the other teams, we cannot control. We are just focusing on our performance from now until the end of the season.

“If you look at our performances against Peterborough and Luton - who are top of the table - you have to be pleased.

“We have to build on those and continue to improve, which is what we have been doing in training this week.

“On a personal level it will be great to see some of the Blackpool staff, who I had a great time with there.

“But, come Saturday, I am Bradford City and I will pick up those relationships at the end of the game.”

Sean Scannell, nursing a back injury, suffered a setback on Tuesday but was expected to return to training this morning.

Meanwhile, Kelvin Mellor (knee) and Calum Woods (hamstring) remain sidelined as Jake Reeves continues his rehabilitation.

Bowyer explained: “On Tuesday, Sean felt a little bit soar in a different area - which is good in a way because it has nothing to do with the injury which he suffered.

“It was just a case of him coming back and getting used to the demands and to training.

“You have got to be careful with him and we don't want to rush him too fast. We have to keep monitoring him on that one.

“Jake is back out on the pitch. He has been doing a fair bit of running, so that is good. Kelvin and Calum are still missing for us, though.”
