Newly-named City skipper Paul Caddis has issued a rallying call ahead of this afternoon’s game against Portsmouth.

Caddis took over the captaincy duties following the appointment of Martin Drury, as the club’s caretaker manager.

And the former Blackburn and Birmingham defender is fully confident as he prepares to lead the Bantams into battle.

Caddis said: “It is a real privilege for me to be named captain, it is a role I have taken on before and enjoyed.

“Martin has obviously seen something in me but we will need 11 captains if we want to get a result at Portsmouth.

“It has been a tough week but the mood in camp is good. There are 36 points still up for grabs and, with 12 games to go, it is still very much in our hands.

“We are hugely confident of getting out of the position we are in, starting with a massive three points at Portsmouth.

“It is important everybody gets behind Martin as we all need to rally together.

“We have had a positive week and Martin has implemented a few new things in training.

“We have to be better, collectively, by showing determination and grit.

“A manager cannot change a player’s characteristics – we have to do that ourselves.”
