Danny Devine has today signed a new one-year contract, which will keep him at the Northern Commercials Stadium until at least the end of next season.

The 21-year-old featured heavily for Gary Bowyer’s Bantams towards the end of the 2018/19 campaign.

And he becomes the first of three players offered new deals to put pen to paper.

An academy product, the midfielder initially broke into the first team as an 18-year-old back in 2016.

Bradford-born Devine said: “I am delighted to have signed for another year. As soon as I found out about the extension it was a no-brainer.

“Last season did not really go to plan, for me. I picked up a few injuries which did not help.

“It is only a one-year extension, so I am looking forward to working hard and showing Gary (Bowyer) what I can do.

“The fans always like to see homegrown players coming through the academy.

“I always get messages wishing me well when I play. They always want me to kick on because I am from Bradford.

“Hopefully, I can play a big part next season and help us to get promoted.”

Bowyer is delighted to have Devine at his disposal ahead of the coming campaign and is tipping the young playmaker to make his mark.

The Bantams boss added: “Danny has shown he has the ability to play a big part next season.

“It was important, with him being a local lad, to get him signed early on.

“I am looking forward to seeing him continue improving as a player and establishing himself in the first team.”
