RIBBONS RETURN FOR MEMORIAL FIXTURE

3 May 2019

The club is looking forward to welcoming Georgia Thornton and her family back to the Northern Commercials Stadium tomorrow, as she sells handmade ribbons in a bid to raise vital funds for the Bradford Royal Infirmary's Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU).

Georgia became well known amongst City fans during the 2017/18 season after she began handcrafting claret and amber ribbons to commemorate her late grandmother.

Originally, she created the ribbons for people to wear at her grandmother's funeral - and Georgia donated all proceeds to the PSBRU.

PSBRU was founded in 1985, following the fire disaster at Valley Parade where we lost 56 fans and 258 were left injured.

PSBRU will use the money raised to conduct research in scarring and wound healing to give patients the best possible outcome.

For the last two games of the 2017/18 season, Georgia sold her ribbons inside and around the ground to help raise funds for the PSBRU. On May 22 2018, Georgia handed over more than £4,000 to the PSBRU.

So far, by selling ribbons, bows and clips throughout the current season, Georgia has raised £745.28.

And, this Saturday, Georgia and the club are hoping to beat last year's total and honour the 56.

Georgia said: "It means a lot to me to sell ribbons on Saturday. It makes me feel closer to my nanna and, knowing how much this charity means to our club and fans, it inspires me to raise as much as I can.

"I am excited because it makes me happy to see how much people appreciate what I have done."

If you would like to purchase a ribbon, search Twitter for @BCAFC_RIBBONS and there will be updates on where Georgia will be throughout the day and information on how you can purchase one is there. Ribbons require a minimum donation of £1.
