Gary Bowyer was delighted to see returning midfield pair Jake Reeves and Chris Taylor back on the field - following a 1-1 draw at Macclesfield Town.

Taylor made his full debut in claret and amber at Moss Rose, while Reeves made his first league start in over 22 months - following injury.

Bowyer praised the effect the duo had on the game and is looking forward to seeing them have more of an impact for City, over the weeks and months ahead.

The Bantams boss said: "Both Chris and Jake came through the game well. Going forward, they will be a lot better for that match.

"To be brutally honest, I was surprised Reevesy lasted as long as he did - in the game - which is a huge credit to him.

"Chris Taylor did excellently as well, with 90 minutes under his belt. It has been a long time coming for him after the rollercoaster he has been on. We were delighted with how he was.

"The two of them add vital experience with their know-how, leadership and organisation of other players - which is massive for us."

Bowyer admitted his disappointment in not being able to send City’s travelling army of over 1,400 supporters back to West Yorkshire with three points.

The City chief cited missed opportunities as one of his side's main downfalls in Cheshire, but was impressed with his players' efforts.

He added: "We certainly went to Macclesfield for more than a point, so it was frustrating to not be able to send our fantastic away supporters away with three.

"In the first half, we created some great chances and should have capitalised on them.

"We huffed and puffed in the second half and I do not think you could have faulted the players' efforts and the way they went about it.

"Once we had scored, we really had the momentum and did all we could to try and take the three points."

Bowyer’s men return to the Utilita Energy Stadium next Saturday, hosting Newport County in Sky Bet League Two action (3.00pm). CLICK HERE to purchase tickets.
