Jake Reeves will make his first appearance in claret and amber for two years, in this evening's Leasing.com Trophy clash at home to Rochdale.
The midfielder - who Gary Bowyer named among his substitutes for Saturday's Emirates FA Cup first-round tie at Shrewsbury Town - last turned out for the Bantams 22 months ago.
Captain-for-the-night Reeves is one of nine changes Bowyer has made to his starting 11, with Zeli Ismail and Aramide Oteh the only two to keep their places.
Paudie O'Connor returns in defence while Chris Taylor - who is among the substitutes - could make his first competitive City appearance.
