Connor Wood is looking forward to getting back into the groove of league action, ahead of Saturday’s trip to Macclesfield Town.

The Bantams’ return to Sky Bet League Two duty ended in a 2-1 defeat to Plymouth Argyle, last weekend, after a period of cup games and postponements.

However the City left-back insists he and his team-mates are determined to pick up where they left off - prior to their cup break - and hopes to bounce back from last week’s loss.

He said: "We are all looking forward to getting back out on the pitch and putting our wrongs right, this weekend.

"It was clear to everyone the standards we have set this season were nowhere-near matched, at Plymouth, especially in the first half.

"We all had to get over it quite quickly, move onto the next game and be determined to show a reaction, on Saturday.

"Hopefully, we can get a positive result, on the road. Prior to the Plymouth game, we were still in the top three.

"We just need to get that match out of our system and return to how we were before. We have our heads screwed on right.

"How we bounce back, this weekend, is very important and we are all determined to get a good run of results going, heading into a busy Christmas period."

Despite the current state of events at Moss Rose, Wood is under no illusion of the threat Saturday’s hosts will provide.

The Silkmen currently sit eight points off the relegation zone in 14th, though the 23-year-old is expecting a difficult encounter.

The former Leicester City man added: "It will definitely be a tough game.

"Macclesfield have a lot going on - off the pitch - at the moment and I think that will spur on a lot of their players.

"They will be a fighting team and we have to deal with that. It will be a tough test for all of us which we are well-aware of.

"We have to be at our best - like we have been for most of this season - in order to hopefully get a positive result."
