BOWYER RELISHING SECOND-SUCCESSIVE HOME CLASH

22 October 2019

Gary Bowyer admitted his Bantams "cannot wait" to get back out in front of their home supporters - ahead of tonight's meeting with Port Vale.

Bowyer's men look to win their fourth consecutive home league match, this evening, just three days after overcoming Crawley Town 2-1 - on Saturday.

The City chief is proud to see the feel-good factor returning the Utilita Energy Stadium and has called for his players to continue building momentum.

Bowyer said: "We have won our last four matches at home, now, which is very encouraging. You always want to put on performances for your home supporters.

"When you are playing as we are, at the moment, you relish playing games and being at home gives us a great chance to keep the momentum going.

"Everyone connected with the club now looks forward to us playing at home, which is brilliant.

"The manner in which we have won our home games fills me with hope.

"There is so much honesty in the side which means we fight until the end of every game. The players are showing they are part of a team, which is great.

"There is still loads more to come from us but, at the moment, I am happy with how well we are working."

City's current form gives Bowyer confidence in being able to extend their unbeaten run, in today's clash.

Despite offering praise to the travelling Valiants, the Bantams boss insisted his side must go about their own business, as they have been doing.

He added: "This will be another tough game. John Askey and his assistant, Dave Kevan, are two great footballing people.

"They know the game very well and have built a well-organised team who are compact and threatening, in attack.

"As always, we know we need to focus solely on ourselves, to give ourselves the best chance of picking up another three points.

"We must bring the same intensity we did in the first half, on Saturday, and the character and desire we showed, towards the end."
