Daniel Devine was delighted to have opened his City account in a 2-1 win over Crawley Town.
The midfielder - a product of the Bantams' academy - bagged his first goal in claret and amber after making over 40 appearances since turning professional, in 2016.
Devine described a huge feeling of relief after scoring his side's winner - in front of The Kop.
He said: "It means a lot, with me being a Bradford lad who has come through the academy, here.
"It has been a long time coming. I have played quite a lot of professional games without scoring, so it was great to finally get off the mark.
"The supporters and the rest of the lads were brilliant, once I had scored. It felt as though everyone was buzzing for me, which was great.
"I remember receiving the ball from Remi Oteh and driving forward. The space opened up so I just thought 'why not?'.
"It was a bit of a swing and hope - on my left foot - but, thankfully, it went in the back of the net."
Introduced as a half-time substitute for the injured Harry Pritchard, Devine is determined to take his chances when they arise and try to nail down a starting spot.
Injuries have bitten Gary Bowyer's Bantams in recent weeks but the 22-year-old insists City are capable of picking up points, regardless of who is on the field.
"We have a few injuries, now, and I am really determined to kick on and take my chances, whenever they arise," he added.
"With whoever is on the pitch, though, the squad will always be more than capable of getting results, as we showed against Crawley.
"Everyone keeps going, constantly, here. There is a lot of competition for places.
"You know you cannot afford to take your foot off the gas because there will be someone behind you, waiting to come in and take your place.
"The intensity and standard in training is top class, every day, and it is definitely showing, on the pitch.
"Everyone in the squad wants to be playing every week. That is what we all wish for."
