Clayton Donaldson has been ruled out for at least two months after sustaining a foot injury.
The City forward suffered the setback during the Bantams’ 2-1 victory over Morecambe, last week.
A scan revealed the full extent of Donaldson’s injury and, yesterday, the striker underwent surgery.
"Clayton had an operation on his toe and will miss a couple of months, at least,” said Bantams boss Gary Bowyer.
"It is a blow for us and it came as a bit of a shock, following the victory over Morecambe last weekend.
"This obviously puts more of a burden on James Vaughan, Aramide Oteh and Shay McCartan. Those are all capable of stepping up and will do so."
