MELLOR HOPEFUL OF SWINDON RESPONSE

Kelvin Mellor hopes the Bantams can bounce back from a "disappointing" 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe United - when entertaining Swindon Town, this coming Saturday.

City dominated large parts of last weekend’s Sands Venue Stadium encounter but were unable to find a winner, forcing them to share the spoils.

Mellor expects the high-flying Robins to pose a dangerous threat but is determined to return to winning ways.

And the former Blackpool defender he and his fellow team-mates can do so.

He said: "We were disappointed to only leave with a point, last weekend.”

"A few of the refereeing decisions went against us, but we were not good enough, in the end, and must be better.

"We know what Swindon are about. They are a good footballing side who are very difficult to defend against.

"They have made a very good start to the season so it will be a really tough game.

"But we are up for it. We know we need to focus on ourselves and play to our strengths.

"Being at home, our supporters definitely give us an added incentive to go out and get three points, and we are desperate to do that."

Mellor has praised the impact players such as Dylan Connolly have had on the squad since arriving at the club - on transfer deadline day.

The right-back has been particularly impressed with the pace within City’s ranks and insisted playing behind colleagues like Connolly is a "pleasure".

The 28-year-old added: "The signings we made have had a huge impact on the team.

"We have a lot of pace all over the pitch which makes my job - as a defender - a lot easier.

"Dylan is a very dangerous player. He is rapid, carries the ball very well and - on top of that - has a great end product.

"We saw, against Scunthorpe, how much trouble he causes teams, with the way their defenders doubled up on him.

"There are not many opponents who can keep up with Dylan and it is great to have someone like him playing in front of you.

"He is fantastic in a one-against-one scenario, I am glad I do not have to play against him!"
