WOOD: 'SWINDON WIN SHOWS STRENGTH IN DEPTH'

Connor Wood claims City's 2-1 win over Swindon Town speaks volumes of the strength in depth currently among the ranks.

The Bantams condemned the Robins to their first away league defeat of the campaign without Ben Richards-Everton, Matt Palmer and captain James Vaughan.

Wood insists the victory is testament to the competition within the squad and how easily missing places in the side can be filled.

He said: "The Swindon win was a big statement, from us.

"We were missing a few key players which shows you the depth we have in the squad and the quality - in numbers - we possess.

"You do not see another side in this division with as much depth as we have.

"You could tell how happy we were with the three points by everyone’s reaction, after the final whistle. The boys were all buzzing with it and so were the supporters.

"It was a massive win against a team who are up there, with us. We have just got to make sure we keep going."

Having now started the Bantams' previous 10 league outings, Wood has enjoyed an extended run in the side, making him a popular figure among the City faithful.

The left-back admitted he has raised his own personal standards, this season, again citing the battle for places as a key factor in his consistency.

Wood added: "I have set myself a standard, this season and, so far, I feel I have kept to it quite well.

"I have to keep raising my own personal levels. With Adam Henley and Jackson Longridge both pushing me, there is a lot of competition for the left-back spot.

"Them two are always hot on my heels so I have to keep my standards as high as they have been, recently.

"I am happy to be helping the team, I just need to keep playing with confidence and doing what I am doing."

The Bantams are set to descend on Morecambe, next Saturday (October 12), with a sold-out end of over 1,600 away supporters backing them.
