CONNOLLY READY TO 'ROCK AND ROLL'

6 September 2019

City newcomer Dylan Connolly is ready and raring to go ahead of a potential debut for the club.

Northampton Town visit the Utilita Energy Stadium tomorrow as the Bantams look to return to winning ways.

Connolly, who joined from AFC Wimbledon on deadline day, believes he can add an extra dynamic to City's attack.

The Irishman said: “Everyone has welcomed me with open arms. We have had good training sessions so far.

“I am a direct winger, who likes to get crosses into the box and shots away.

“The manager wants me to get at people out wide and get balls into the box.

“With strikers like Clayton Donaldson and James Vaughan, you know that by putting balls into the box, they will probably score.

“Hopefully, I can add some goals and assists to the team and get off the mark straight away.”

Manager Gary Bowyer swooped for Connolly late on deadline day - when the winger became available from his parent club.

Despite the move coming as a “surprise”, Connolly said it was the lure of the club’s size and history which grabbed his attention.

“My opportunities were becoming limited at Wimbledon, so I thought it was great for me to go out on loan,” he added.

“The manager gave me a call and said he wanted me here. When a manager wants you, it can only be a good thing.

“It is a massive club, which attracts nearly 15,000 fans on a Saturday. That just shows you how big it actually is.

“They have been in the Premier League before and had memorable, historic cup runs. I am very excited to get started.

“I am ready to rock and roll. I am available if the gaffer chooses to put me in, so we will see what happens."
