Zeli Ismail admitted a feeling of relief after netting his first City goal - in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Carlisle United.

Appearing from the bench in the 78th minute, the winger hammered home the Bantams' third goal to wrap up the points against their Cumbrian counterparts.

The 25-year-old was delighted to open his account in claret and amber and hopes this strike can can be the first of many in West Yorkshire.

Ismail said: "It was a brilliant feeling to score my first goal for the club.

"I had hoped I would get a chance to score because it was very open in the second half, particularly towards the end of the game.

"We broke well down the left-hand side through Clayton Donaldson and I tried to get forward as quickly as I could, hoping he would see me.

"He picked me out really well and I got a good strike away which, thankfully, went in.

"I felt a massive weight off my shoulders when I saw it hit the back of the net and, hopefully, I will be able to score a lot more, this season."

Making his fourth appearance of the campaign, the former Walsall man was encouraged by the character within City’s ranks.

Ismail insisted the Bantams’ second consecutive comeback triumph at the Utilita Energy Stadium came as no surprise, given the belief he and his team-mates carry.

He added: "To get another win gave us all a fantastic feeling.

"Coming back from 1-0 down showed the character and quality we have in the squad.

"Carlisle are a very well-organised side who are good at the back, so we had to work hard and dig deep.

"We went behind against Northampton - last time we were at home - and still managed to pull it back, so we are always confident of finding a way to win.

"There is a lot of belief in this camp. We never give in and always fight until the final whistle. You definitely saw that again, against Carlisle."

Gary Bowyer's men continue their Leasing.com Trophy campaign at home to Manchester City Under-21s on Tuesday (7.30pm). Supporters are asked to PAY ON THE GATE.
