Kelvin Mellor is calling for the Bantams to continue the momentum gathered ahead of Saturday’s trip to Walsall.

City returned to winning ways with a dramatic victory over Northampton Town last time out, a result Mellor insists filled he and his team-mates with plenty of encouragement.

The full-back is determined to gather speed, beginning with this weekend’s trip to the Banks’s Stadium.

Mellor said: "Saturday’s win over Northampton gave us all a massive boost and even more of an incentive to go and get the job done at Walsall.

"There is a great atmosphere and very happy vibe around the place, which is brilliant.

"We are taking each game as it comes but are desperate to keep the momentum going by continuing to get points on the board.

"Momentum is huge in a long season like this. Having a good run can make a massive difference and we all realise how important that is.

"At the moment, we are taking it step by step and cannot wait for this weekend."

Former Blackpool defender Mellor expects to be greeted with a tough test in the Midlands.

However, familiar with Saturday’s opponents - having faced them last season in Sky Bet League One - the right-back is confident in being able to record successive wins.

"Walsall is a very tough place to go, which we are well aware of," he added.

"We know all about them having played them twice last year in Sky Bet League One.

"They play at a very tight ground and make it extremely difficult for visiting teams like ourselves to go there, play well and get a result.

"We have got to keep doing what we are doing and make sure we take the game to them.

"If we give it everything we have - which we are currently doing day in, day out - I am sure we will have what it takes to go there and win."
