ONES TO WATCH
Caolan Lavery:
A household EFL name, Lavery is enjoying his first season as a Saddler, having signed from Sheffield United over the summer.
The 26-year-old forward begun his career at Sheffield Wednesday and has also spent time at the likes of Bury, Rotherham United and Portsmouth.
Josh Gordon:
The forward enjoyed a successful first season at Walsall throughout 2018/19, scoring nine goals in 45 appearences.
The exciting 24-year-old scored two against the Bantams in February's meeting at the Banks's Stadium.
Danny Guthrie:
A midfielder, Guthrie carries a welath of expereince at Premier League level, beginning his career at Liverpool in 2005.
The 32-year-old went on to enjoy successful spells at Newcastle United and Reading.
Mat Sadler:
An experienced defender, Sadler has begun his first season at the Midlands outfit.
The 34-year-old reached the Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final as captain of Shrewsbury Town in 2018.
THE MANAGER
Darrell Clarke was appointed at the Walsall helm on a three-year contract over the summer.
Clarke spent over four and a half years as manager of Bristol Rovers prior to joining the Saddlers, enjoying a win percentage of over 42% in the south of the country.
The 41-year-old established a reputable playing career in the EFL, representing Hartlepool United and Mansfield Town as a midfilder between 1995 and 2007.
THE CAPTAIN
James Clarke has been captain of Saturday's opponents since joining the club over the summer.
The defender put an end to a four-year spell at Bristol Rovers at the end of last season to follow his old manager Clarke to the Saddlers.
The 29-year-old has also served spells in non-league with the likes of Salisbury City, Oxford City and Woking.
