The Bantams returned to winning ways at the Utilita Energy Stadium - with a 1-0 victory over play-off-chasing Cambridge United in Sky Bet League Two.

Harry Pritchard’s 42nd-minute winner was enough to secure all three points for Mark Trueman’s side, who again showed reserves of fight, desire and hunger to record the triumph.

Paudie O’Connor had the ball in the back of the visitors’ net in the 16th minute, though the linesman raised his flag for an offside against Pritchard in the area.

The Bantams did however open the scoring in the 42nd minute through Pritchard - in an otherwise quiet first half.

O’Connor found City’s No.7 with a long cross-field ball. The midfielder took it down on his chest before cutting inside and hitting a sweet half-volley into the far bottom corner - past the Cambridge goalkeeper.

City started the second half brightly. After patient build-up play, Levi Sutton squared towards Lee Novak, but the striker angled his effort just wide.

Callum Cooke hit the post in the 48th minute - through a low, driven attempt from outside the 18-yard box.

The ball rebounded back to Lee Novak, but the striker’s effort was directed straight at the U’s goalkeeper.

Callum Cooke again had a good opportunity to score in the 75th minute - as he found himself in space in the opposition box. His effort from 12 yards was directed straight at the visiting stopper and easily saved.

In the 78th minute, Billy Clarke whipped in a tempting ball towards far the post - which fell just inches away from the feet of Paudie O’Connor.

Richard O’Donnell pulled off a magnificent, acrobatic, point-blank save in the 89th minute to deny Joe Ironside from levelling up - ensuring the Bantams came away with all three points.
