BANTAMS TO DELIVER 1,500 FREE MEALS

17 December 2020

City’s Community Foundation will deliver 1,500 free meals to those at risk - across the Bradford district - over the festive period.

Beginning on Monday (December 21) and running through until Friday January 1, club officials will provide vulnerable children, young people and families with 150 meals per day, engaging with over 500 families in total.

This follows work done over this year’s October half-term, where the club’s Community Foundation provided 750 meals to vulnerable youngsters - having obtained a grant from Bradford Council.

On Christmas Day, families will receive Christmas-style meals which aim to ensure those at risk do not miss out, over the festive period.

In addition, the Community Foundation will donate a ‘goody bag’ to every child liaised with - on Christmas Day.

Bradford City Community Foundation business development officer, Qasim Akhtar - who has organised and provided the service - said: “We are delighted to be in a position to support our local community once again, especially over the festive period.

“It has been a very difficult year for everyone - some more than others - so to support people within our community is something we see as a vital responsibility.

“We want to ensure everybody in the local community, whether they celebrate Christmas or not, can enjoy the festive period.

“I would like to thank Bradford Council for their amazing support with this project yet again, and take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - from all at Bradford City Football Club.”
