Clayton Donaldson insists the Bantams are "determined" to turn around their bad run of form - when playing host to Cheltenham Town this evening (7.00pm).
Donaldson expressed his disappointment at the Bantams’ second-round exit from the Emirates FA Cup at the weekend - but revealed he and the squad are desperate to show a reaction.
“It was disappointing to get knocked out, as it is with any cup competition, because we wanted to progress,” he said.
“The fashion in which we lost was poor. We normally do well after taking the lead, but to lose the two goals was disappointing and everyone involved was downhearted.
“We have to stick together and keep the belief that we can turn this around.
“We have had to turn things around before as a group and as players - and there is still a long way to go in the season.
“We are in a difficult situation and looking too far down the line will not help us here.
“We have to keep looking towards the next game and looking to improve upon our form in the short term.
“It is a big shift for everyone at the moment but I will always fight for the cause until my body tells me otherwise, which everyone needs to do.”
Donaldson acknowledged the tough test that tonight’s visitors will pose - and called for the squad to show character and stick together to bounce back.
The former Brentford striker added: “They are second in the league and have started well, so we have to show them respect but have the confidence in ourselves to go out there and get a result.
“It will be an interesting game - but we certainly still have a squad which is capable of fighting for results - regardless of the injuries we currently have.
“We have to stick our chests out and be counted for, being confident to try and get a result.
“You need big characters in situations like this and I will put my name down to be one of those.
“With the position and situation we are in, we need characters and people to be able to step up to the plate in order to go and get results, and I am definitely up for that fight.”
