O’CONNOR DETERMINED AHEAD OF HALF-CENTURY

Paudie O’Connor is determined to ensure the Bantams return to winning ways tomorrow - when visiting Oldham Athletic (3.00pm).

The defender is in line to make his 50th appearance in claret and amber at Boundary Park, as City look to turn their fortunes.

O’Connor feels a week without a Tuesday evening fixture has helped the side’s preparations, and is hoping they can turn a corner in Lancashire.

He said: “It has probably been the first week in a while where we can get out properly on the training pitch and get to work properly.

“Results have not been how we wanted them to be, but there has been positivity in coming and having a full week of training behind us.

“There is no point in feeling gloomy and down about ourselves, the only thing we can do is concentrate on being positive and moving forward.

“We only have ourselves to blame. We need to hold our hands up and say we must to be better.

“We have worked a lot this week on the things we know we needed to, so hopefully the results will come.”

Having already faced Oldham twice so far this season, O’Connor insists City have worked a lot on what they know they will need to.

He feels there is an element of redemption after two defeats to Harry Kewell’s men, and is hoping he and his team-mates can improve.

The former Leeds United man added: “We have played Oldham twice now so know what they are all about.

“They are a good side and know how to find the net, so we have worked on a lot of different things.

“Having the experience of playing them a few times recently, we know what will come and how we need to be prepared for it.

“It is always a chance to put things right quickly. The 2-1 defeat in the Emirates FA Cup probably flattered us a bit and we were off it in the first half.

“We need to put our front foot forward and do all we can to improve upon it.”
