PRITCHARD PLEASED WITH CAMBRIDGE PERFORMANCE

Goal-scorer Harry Pritchard leapt to praise the Bantams' performance - after they battled to a 1-0 victory over Cambridge United.

City returned to winning ways thanks to Pritchard’s sublime 25-yard strike in the 42nd minute at the Utilita Energy Stadium.

The midfielder, however, was more impressed by the defensive solidarity on show from the hosts, as they limited the free-scoring U’s to just one effort on target.

He said: “It was a very pleasing all-round performance. We knew it was going to be a tough game, against a good side. They are up there for a reason, and we defended really well.

“We did what Truey (Mark Trueman) and Conor (Sellars) told us to do very well, and were good all over the pitch - to a man.

“It always nice to get on the scoresheet and help the team towards three points. I do not think I will ever hit a shot any sweeter than that, on my right foot, so it was great to see it go in.”

Having taken four points from two games since Trueman and Sellars took caretaker charge, the former Blackpool man also spoke fondly of the effect the pair have had on the side.

He takes encouragement from recent results and performances and is looking for City to use them to their advantage, as they approach a hectic Christmas schedule.

Pritchard added: “They have come in and picked a system, which we have all accepted and taken to really well.

“We have stuck together as a group - as you have seen over the past two games - and taken on board everything they have said.

“It is encouraging to have got the results because we are disappointed with the position we are in, in the league.

“We cannot change what has gone or reverse any of the results, so it is just about righting those wrongs - which I think we have gone about in the right manner, over the past few games.

“We will not get carried away with anything, now, and just have to make sure we keep striving to improve over the Christmas period, where we have a lot of games.”
