McCALL: ‘CAMP CONFIDENT AHEAD OF CAMBRIDGE’

Stuart McCall insists confidence and motivation within City’s camp is high - ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Cambridge United (3.00pm).

The Bantams travel to the Abbey Stadium on the back of a second-half comeback which saw them dispose of Stevenage 3-1, on Tuesday evening.

McCall was encouraged by the display at the Utilita Energy Stadium and is looking for more of the same in his first away contest since returning as manager.

He said: “The mood in camp is naturally good after a big three points, on Tuesday night.

“Having found a way to win the game, I was very encouraged, after we had fallen behind.

“If you are a footballer, there is no higher high than winning and no lower low than losing.

“Winning is the best feeling in the world and we have to use it to fuel our motivation ahead of the Cambridge game.

“The Stevenage result was a huge one for the club and probably relieved quite a bit of pressure, while filling the lads with more confidence.

“The main thing was the three points and we have to make sure we keep it going, at Cambridge.”

Despite the Bantams’ recent disappointing away form, McCall denies letting this affect the squad, since his appointment.

He is expecting a difficult test against the in-form U’s, but is focussed on what his side can do to come back to West Yorkshire with three points.

The City chief added: “I have not given the away form a thought, to be honest.

“It is a new start with a new management team and a clean slate, in a way.

“We obviously have to try our hardest to turn it around but are confident of being able to do so.

“Since Colin Calderwood left Cambridge, they have won three games on the bounce, so are obviously playing with confidence.

“The conditions should be a little easier to play in than they were on Tuesday, but we have to make sure we make it difficult for them.

“We have to set up well and, first and foremost, focus on coming back here with another three points.”
