Stuart McCall left the Abbey Stadium frustrated - following his side’s controversial stoppage-time defeat to Cambridge United.
The hosts’ winner, in the 91st minute, came after Harry Pritchard appeared to be fouled around halfway - though the referee allowed play to continue.
Despite being proud of his players’ efforts, McCall was disappointed in defeat and the decision which led to this.
He said: “It is hugely disappointing and I am sorry to the travelling supporters, who were fantastic.
“For the players, I do not think there was much more they could have done - at the end.
“With the second and crucial goal, I thought everyone in the ground saw it was a blatant foul on Harry Pritchard, on the halfway line.
“The referee played on and they obviously scored the winner from that.
“In the second half, they came at us as we expected them to and I thought we defended manfully.
“It proved to be very fine lines which cost us in the end, which is sore. It is a hard one to take because I do not think we deserved it.
“But, when something as bad as a decision like that denies you, it has to be spoken about.”
In wicked weather conditions - owed to the arrival of Storm Dennis in Cambridgeshire - McCall explained the difficulty in his side being able to play their game.
The Bantams boss insisted, in the circumstances, his players battled well and were unlucky to leave empty-handed.
He added: “It was a game of two halves and was always going to be, on a day like today, with the conditions.
“I thought we played some very good football in bad conditions - in the first half - and probably should have had a few more attempts at goal.
“The wind probably stopped us from playing how we wanted to and certainly did not help.
“But, I thought we dug in, with our backs against the wall - which you have to when you are playing in these kinds of conditions.
“Cambridge came at us with plenty of shots but I think, in the end, we were extremely unlucky.”
