OPPOSITION GUIDE: PLYMOUTH ARGYLE

City are set for their return to Sky Bet League Two action at the Utilita Energy Stadium, welcoming Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (3.00pm).

Ryan Lowe's high-flying Pilgrims sit fourth in the league and are just four points off top, having not lost in their last four games. 

We have compiled an Opposition Guide packed full of detailed information on Saturday's visitors.

JANUARY TRANSFER ACTIVITY

The Home Park outfit spent January making four additions to their squad, with a further six players departing. 

Ins: Luke Jephcott (Truro City, recalled from loan), Tyreeq Bakinson (Bristol City, loan), Ryan Hardie (Blackpool, loan), Josh Grant (Chelsea, loan extended). 

Outs: Billy Clarke (Grimsby Town), Zak Rudden (Rangers, loan expired), Tafari Moore (Colchester United, loan), Ryan Law (Truro City, loan extended), Joe Riley (Mansfield Town), Ashley Smith-Brown (Oldham Athletic). 

ONES TO WATCH

Antoni Sarcevic: 

A product of Manchester City's academy, Sarcevic has an impressive 11 goals to his name - from midfield - for Ryan Lowe's men so far, this season. 

The 27-year-old has been in Devon since January 2017, after signing from Fleetwood Town - where he made 138 appearances. 

Danny Mayor:

A summer signing, winger Mayor was recruited by manager Ryan Lowe, who he played both with and under at Bury. 

A 29-year-old, Mayor began his career in the Sky Bet Championship with Preston North End, having graduated from the Lilywhites' academy. 

Luke Jephcott: 

At just 20 years old, Jephcott has had a huge impact for Ryan Lowe's men since being recalled from a loan spell at Truro City last month, scoring six goals in 11 matches. 

The Wales under-19 striker began his career at non-league Cornish sides Wendron United and Helston Athletic, before moving to Home Park in 2014. 

Niall Canavan: 

A defender, Canavan's footballing career actually began at City, where he was released as a 12-year-old. 

The Leeds man made over 200 appearances for Rochdale and Scunthorpe United, before signing for Plymouth in 2018. 

THE MANAGER

Ryan Lowe is in his first season as Plymouth boss, having taken the reins at Home Park in June. 

A striker, Lowe enjoyed a long and successful career in the EFL, representing the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Crewe Alexandra, Tranmere Rovers and Bury. 

The Lowe took over as caretaker manager at the Shakers - where his playing career concluded -before taking the permanent helm for over a year in May 2018.  

THE CAPTAIN

Experienced defender Gary Sawyer is in his fifth year at the Pilgrims, having first signed in June 2015. 

The 34-year-old began his career in Devon, before going on to represent the likes of Exeter City, Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient. 

Sawyer has made almost 500 career appearances over the course of a professional career which began in 2002.  

LAST TIME OUT

Plymouth were held to a goalless draw at home to in-form Cambridge United last Saturday.
