COUSIN-DAWSON CONFIDENT AHEAD OF CHELSEA TIE

15 January 2020

Finn Cousin-Dawson insists he and his team-mates are confident - ahead of this evening’s FA Youth Cup trip to Chelsea.

The young Bantams travel south having beaten category-one Stoke City in round three - with action at Aldershot Town’s EBB Stadium getting underway from 7.00pm.

The defender has taken encouragement from City’s previous matches and believes the side are ready to handle the challenge Chelsea present.

He said: “We have taken a lot of confidence from the past few games, particularly in the FA Youth Cup where we beat a category one side in Stoke City - in the last round.

“We have worked well in friendlies and we have to be confident we can go down there and get a result.

“There has been a lot of preparation ahead of this game and a lot of analysis done - over the past couple of weeks.

“We have concentrated a lot on how they are going to play and how we can go about dealing with that. All the boys feel as though we are ready.”

Cousin-Dawson insists Mark Trueman’s side can look back with fond memories on their FA Youth Cup campaign, so far, and hopes to be able to create even more.

He is well-aware of the opportunity and is looking forward to challenging himself on increasingly bigger stages.

The young centre-back added: “We are all really looking forward to it. It is a massive occasion for the whole side.

“To not only get to the fourth round but pit ourselves against a team like Chelsea - who are one of the best in Europe - is exciting.

“It should be a big test for everyone and will be great for us, as players, to challenge ourselves against some of the best at this age level.

“Getting to this stage is quite a big deal for a category three side.

“We have made a lot of memories and shown a lot of character in this competition so far, so I think we deserve the experience.

“These are great chances to play in big games which could shape our careers. We are looking to make the most of them.”

Supporters can PAY ON THE GATE at the EBB Stadium - with admission priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.
