OPPOSITION GUIDE: CHELTENHAM TOWN

City play host to Cheltenham Town in Sky Bet League Two this evening, at the Utilita Energy Stadium. 

Michael Duff's side have enjoyed a strong start to the 2019/20 campaign, currently sat a place above the Bantams - in sixth place - in the league table. 

With action set to get underway from 7.45pm, we have compiled an Opposition Guide, packed full of detailed information on this evening's hosts.

SUMMER TRANSFER ACTIVITY

The Jonny-Rocks Stadium outfit have added 11 new players to their squad since the summer, with a further 12 departing.

ONES TO WATCH

Alex Addai:

An exciting forward, Addai has four goals in Sky Bet League Two so far, this season. 

The 25-year-old's youth career included time at Tottenham Hotspur and Blackpool, before an established non-league spell earned him a move to Gloucestershire. 

Ryan Broom:

Broom has consistently performed for Michael Duff's side this season, with seven goals and four assists in the league, this season. 

Born in Wales, the 23-year-old began his career at Bristol Rovers before joining the Robins in 2018. 

Luke Varney:

Now 37, much-travelled Varney has enjoyed a long career in the EFL, and brings a weath of experience to City's opponents. 

The striker has 17 goals in 50 outings for the Robins and has turned out for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wedensday and Portsmouth. 

Conor Thomas:

The 26-year-old turned out on over 100 occasions for his hometown club, Coventry City, prior to joining the Jonny-Rocks Stadium outfit. 

The midfielder has five goals this season and, on top of a spell in India, has also been capped by England at under-17 and under-18 level. 

THE MANAGER

In his first senior management role, Michael Duff has just celebrated his first year of being at the Cheltenham helm. 

An accomplished player, Duff made over 600 league appearences for the Robins and Burnley, in addition to earning 24 international caps with Northern Ireland. 

The older brother of former Bantams defender Shane, the 42-year-old begun his coaching career in the Clarets' academy, with a two-year stint between 2016 and 2018. 

THE CAPTAIN

Ben Tozer is in his second year at this evening's opponents, having signed from Newport County in the summer of 2019.

The much-travelled midfielder - known for his long throw-ins - carries a wealth of EFL experience.  

Starting his youth career at his hometown club Plymouth Argyle, the 29-year-old has also represented Newcastle United, Northampton Town and Swindon Town. 

LAST TIME OUT

Michael Duff's men recorded back-to-back victories in their last outing, winning 2-0 at Salford City.
