WOMEN ROMP TO EMPHATIC CUP VICTORY

7 January 2020

Bradford City Women continued their West Riding County Cup campaign with a rampant 10-2 victory over Thackley.

The Bantams returned in style following the festive break - scoring eight goals in a dominant second half to book their place in the quarter final.

Despite hitting the post twice and creating several opportunities, City had to wait until the 40th minute to open the scoring.

Monika Stube send a dangerous ball into the area for Charlotte Stuart to force home.

While the visitors caught Chris Hames' side out cold - with a counter attack - to instantly equalise, City still found time to re-take the lead - courtesy of an own goal - before the interva.

The female Bantams entered overdrive following the restart, adding to their advantage thanks to goals from Ellie Prothero and Zoe Roberts.

Another own goal was complimented by a Harriet Jakeman double and a Falone Sumaili hat-trick, to take Hames' women into double figures.

Thackley did manage to pull a goal back in the closing stages, though this proved a mere consolation as the home side recorded a heavily convincing victory.

This score-line build on a 3-0 victory over the same opponents in last year's competition.

Hames' side will now host Brayton Belles in the next round, on Sunday January 19 (2.00pm).
