Stuart McCall is looking forward to a different challenge in the Emirates FA Cup, ahead of his side’s first-round trip to Tonbridge Angels (12.30pm).

The Bantams take on sixth-tier opposition in Kent, in a historic competition the City manager scored in the final of - during his playing career.

McCall insists he is looking for more of the same from his side - with another potent, professional performance.

He said: “I have always been a big fan of the FA Cup and am looking forward to being involved with the competition again.

“I want to be manager of this club at the point of us entering at the third-round stage, sometime soon.

“It is a case of our mentality and getting as much of a grip of a game as much as possible. We need to put in another professional, clinical performance.

“We have to be mentally prepared to know what to expect and make sure we keep our standards high.

“Come Saturday, the lads will all know what they need to do and we will all be fully focussed on the job at hand.”

Despite facing lower-tier opposition, McCall insisted his team selection will reflect his desire to progress to the second round of the competition.

The Bantams boss assured his side will treat the Angels as they have each of their Sky Bet League Two opponents this season, and expects a challenging encounter.

He added: “In terms of team selection, we will not be changing much. It will not be an experimental side because we are going there to win, that is for sure.

“Since the draw was made, Tonbridge have not had a game, but we have tried to get hold of as much game footage as possible.

“They have played in a few different systems so far this season, so we do not really know what to expect, but we have to focus on how we want to play and put our game on them.

“We are expecting a tough, physical game but we must go there and make sure we are ready and up for the challenge, to be the best we can be.

“I am sure there will be upsets this week, and we have just got to make sure we are not involved in one of them.”

The game will be broadcast LIVE across BBC and BT Sport’s online and digital platforms.
