Reece Staunton has been ruled out for at least 12 weeks, after scan results revealed he has suffered a high-grade hamstring tear.

The 18-year-old limped off in the 55th minute of last Tuesday’s trip to Leyton Orient, before receiving results over the weekend.

Staunton will travel to London today (Monday) to see a specialist, who will further asses the extent of his injury.

The defender has made 14 appearances in claret and amber so far this season, and netted his first professional goal in this month’s 2-2 draw at home to Exeter City.

Bantams boss Stuart McCall said: “We are all first and foremost disappointed to have lost Reece for so long, but of course gutted for the lad himself.

“He has made an impressive start to the season and, at just 18 years old, has fit into our side seamlessly, making a good transition into professional football.

“We all wish him the very best with his recovery and will be with him every step of the way.”
