The Bantams fell to a 3-0 defeat to Newport County at the Utilita Energy Stadium.
Goals in the first, 44th and 92nd minute were enough to hand the Exiles all three points, who take the Sky Bet League Two top spot.
The visitors made the perfect start to the game, with Mickey Demetriou’s first-minute strike finding the bottom right-hand corner.
The Exiles piled on the pressure, and came close to doubling their lead within the opening 10 minutes - but Richard O’Donnell eventually claimed the ball after a goalmouth scramble.
Connor Wood recorded City’s first shot on target in the 18th minute, though his low shot was collected easily by keeper Nick Townsend.
Making his first league start for the Bantams, Austin Samuels almost equalised just before the half-hour mark.
From a neat set-piece routine, Billy Clarke found the on-loan Wolves man with a floated ball which was headed just wide.
The visitors doubled their lead just moments before the half-time whistle thanks another low finish into the bottom-right hand corner, this time for Padraig Among.
After making two substitutes at the break, City began the second half on the front foot and searched for a goal to put them back in the game.
Irish defender Anthony O’Connor hit the post from his looping attempt from the edge of the area.
Skipper Richard O’Donnell made two excellent reaction saves in the 70th and 71st minutes to deny the Exiles from adding a third.
The visitors did round the scoring off though in stoppage time - from the penalty spot - after Connor Wood brought down Scott Twine in the penalty area.
Substitute Matthew Dolan calmly converted, sending Richard O’Donnell the wrong way and sending Newport top of the Sky Bet League Two table.
