McCALL RELISHING HEALTHY COMPETITION AHEAD OF HARROGATE

Stuart McCall has been encouraged by the competition and positivity within his squad as City prepare for Monday evening's visit of Harrogate Town (7.45pm).

The Bantams are unbeaten in Sky Bet League Two so far this season and will look to extend the run at the Utilita Energy Stadium against their North Yorkshire neighbours.

McCall is pleased with the competitiveness and attitude each of his players is demonstrating in training ahead of the clash.

He stated: "Everyone is pushing each other and we have a lot of good, healthy competition, at the moment.

"The weekend off has given us an opportunity to come in and train on Saturday and Sunday, and I have been very happy with the standard so far.

"There is not just a chance for the players to impress in training, they need to be positive in whatever they are doing.

"Whether we are on the pitch, in training, in the gym or at home, they need to be pushing themselves as hard as they can which, thankfully, they are.

"I watched the game back from Tuesday night and it was as pleasing then as it was immediately after.

"There were plenty of positives and we definitely have people vying for spots in the side, which is great."

The former Scotland international has also welcomed the challenge Simon Weaver's men will present in front of the Sky Sports cameras, and is looking forward to what he anticipates will be an exciting Yorkshire derby.

McCall added: "Harrogate have started very well and are a good footballing side.

"They have two guys in Simon Weaver and his assistant Paul Thirlwell - who I know well having played with him at Sheffield United - who have done a fantastic job. We are really starting to see the emergence of the football club as a whole.

"They play some very good football and are a strong team. It is a match I am really looking forward to.

"I am expecting a great game. It is unfortunate for us not to be able to have the supporters in, as it would have been sure to be an electric atmosphere at Valley Parade."
