‘MIXED EMOTIONS’ FOR McCALL

Stuart McCall admitted a feeling of "mixed emotions" after his side was denied all three points in a 2-2 draw at Forest Green Rovers.

The Bantams - who were made to play the final 20 minutes with nine men - conceded an equaliser late into stoppage time after defending heroically over the closing stages.

McCall could not help a feeling of disappointment, but was proud of his side's bravery.

He stated: “The game was a series of mixed emotions, if I am being honest.

“Conceding the goal in the last moments of the game was tough to take.

“All in all, if you are going to be playing with nine men for as long as we did and defend like we did with Lee Novak at centre-back - who ran himself to the ground - then you have to say that the players showed the desire in which we have spoken about.

“We defended a lot better. We are slightly disappointed with how late we conceded but, on the other hand, if the penalty went in and we were playing with 10 men then it would have been a different story.

“I think the main thing from this is that we have come to Forest Green - who are a good side - scored two goals and got a point."

McCall is looking forward to a full week of preparation ahead of the Bantams' next outing - at home to Stevenage - on Saturday.

He added: “There definitely is a good amount of time to prepare for next week.

“I think Paudie O'Connor will be out for three or four games and then Anthony O'Connor will be out for one.

"I am a bit concerned about Reece Staunton at this moment in time, because he did struggle to come off the pitch - which is a big issue.

“We will look into his injury and with the time we have now we will look back at the positives and negatives, as well as working on things which need improving on.

“We can find out who is available, but I know for certain that - no matter what happens - we will be ready for Stevenage.”
