Elliot Watt has stressed the importance of a reaction when the Bantams travel to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday (3.00pm).

City were eliminated from the Carabao Cup on Tuesday with a 5-0 defeat at home to Sky Bet League One side Lincoln City.

The 20-year-old midfielder admitted the midweek performance was "unacceptable", though insisted the group remains together and is even more motivated to succeed.

"It does not matter if the game was against a League One club - losing 5-0 is not acceptable," he said.

"The game came down to who was better in both boxes, and they certainly defended with a lot more desire.

"We were not good enough on Tuesday and there is no getting around that.

"There were a few truths told in the dressing room after the match, but we are a good group.

"We have got to be honest, push ourselves and drive each other forward, because we want to be successful."

The Bantams return to Sky Bet League Two action with a first-ever trip to the New Lawn - in what is one of 10 EFL pilot fixtures over the weekend.

Watt maintained the squad is determined to bounce back with a positive result, and is excited about the prospect of playing in front of supporters for the first time in over six months.

"We are looking forward to travelling to Forest Green and want to put Tuesday's result right," Watt added.

"The bare minimum you will get from myself and the team is hard work.

"We want to show the supporters that we care and our performance against Lincoln was not acceptable.

"The only way we can do that is with a good result and performance against Forest Green this weekend.

"Having supporters back in stadiums will give us a little bit more drive, especially if there are 15,000 in attendance at Valley Parade.

"Even when you are away from home, it gives you a boost.

"If you hear somebody in the crowd giving you a little bit of stick, it pushes you on.

"We all hope the trial event runs safely so we can see the City supporters return sooner."
