The Bantams will be looking to record back-to-back wins at the Utilita Energy Stadium - when hosting Crawley Town in Sky Bet League Two tomorrow evening.

John Yems’ side sit 15th in the table, having won 14, drawn 11 and lost 15 this season.

At the beginning of 2021, the Red Devils secured a historic Emirates FA Cup win, beating Leeds United 3-0 in Sussex.

We have created this Opposition Guide to take you through everything you need to know about Tuesday’s visitors.

TRANSFER ACTIVITY

Crawley Town made six signings in January, with a further six players leaving the club. 

INS: James Tilley (Grimsby Town), Jordan Maguire-Drew (Leyton Orient, loan), Josh Wright (Leyton Orient), Davide Rodari (Hastings United), Stuart Nelson (unassigned), Mark Wright (unassigned).

OUTS: Brian Galach (Wisla Plock II), Sam Ashford (Woking, loan), Max Watters (Cardiff City), Nathan Ferguson (Southend United), Josh Doherty (Colchester United, loan), Tom McGill (Brighton & Hove Albion, recalled from loan).

ONES TO WATCH

Tom Nichols

Nichols joined the Sussex-based side in September 2020 and is the club’s top goalscorer this season - with 15 goals to his name.

Since making his senior debut for Exeter City in 2011, the 27-year-old striker has represented seven different clubs, including notable spells with Peterborough United and Bristol Rovers.

Mark Wright

The 34-year-old joined the Red Devils in December after enjoying a professional career as a television and radio presenter. 

Wright represented Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at youth level and has featured in several charity football matches over the last decade, including appearances at Soccer Aid. 

Josh Wright

Brother of Mark, Josh signed for Crawley in January on a two-and-a-half-year deal, following his release from Leyton Orient.

The 31-year old has represented the Red Devils previously after joining the club on loan from Millwall in 2014.

Wright is a product of the Charlton Athletic academy and has turned out for 10 different clubs throughout his career, including a spell at the Utilita Energy Stadium during the 2018/19 season.

Tony Craig

Craig has clocked up over 600 career appearances since making his professional debut with Millwall in 2003. The 6ft defender has represented the likes of Crystal Palace, Leyton Orient and Brentford. 

The Millwall academy graduate signed a two-year deal for Crawley in the summer after spending two seasons at Bristol Rovers.

Craig has been an influential part of John Yems’ side since arriving, and has played in every match so far this season. 

THE CAPTAIN

George Francomb started his career off with Norwich City after coming through the academy at the Norfolk-based side. He made several brief loan appearances before joining AFC Wimbledon on a permanent basis in 2013.

The 29-year-old midfielder spent six seasons with the Dons, helping them to win promotion to Sky Bet League One.

Francomb signed for Crawley in 2018 and has been a regular in the side since joining. He has five goals and three assists so far this season.

THE MANAGER

John Yems was appointed as head coach of Crawley Town in December 2019. This is his second spell at the club after he led the Red Devils to safety in the National League on the final day of the 2006/07 season.

The 61-year old was then appointed assistant to Paul Tisdale at Exeter City in 2009 where he spent 18 months at the Devon club.

He became the football operations manager at AFC Bournemouth where he played a big part in the Cherries' rise from Sky Bet League One to the Premier League.

Crawley Town were held to a goalless draw in Phil Brown’s first game back in charge at Southend United.
