City’s under-18s fell to their first home defeat of 2021 with a 3-0 loss to Lincoln City.

A Jovon Makama hat-trick was enough for the Imps to see off the young Bantams at their Woodhouse Grove training base.

The visitors took the lead with six minutes on the clock when Kyrell Wheatley played a through ball to Makama, who slotted past City goalkeeper Tom Donaghy.

The West Yorkshire side went close to equalising when Dylan Youmbi’s right-footed effort from just outside the 18-yard box went narrowly wide of the post.

The Imps doubled their advantage when a cleared corner fell to Makama who then struck a right-footed volley into the bottom corner of the goal.

Moments later, the hosts thought they had pulled one back when Jack Wilson found the back of the net, however, it was ruled out for offside.

Makama completed his hat-trick shortly after the interval when he went on a solo run before calmly converting with his left foot.

The Bantams went close to getting a goal of their own but Wilson’s curling right-footed effort was tipped wide of the post by Imps stopper Matthew Boylan.

The home side went close again when Connor Morris’ low cross was put wide by substitute Leke Ajibode.

There were no further goal-scoring opportunities as the visitors maintained their three-goal advantage and earned all three points.
