Derek Adams believes his side is more than capable of going toe-to-toe with Nottingham Forest ahead of tonight's Carabao Cup first-round meeting.
This will be the first encounter between the two clubs since August 2010.
While Adams is well aware this will be a huge test to overcome for his players, he is convinced they can more than compete with the Sky Bet Championship side.
He said: “They may be two divisions above us, but we definitely feel as though we can compete with them.
“As much as it will be a difficult game, it is also a great opportunity for our players to express themselves.
“Forest are a very good team with a proud history, but we are going to give it everything we have in order to try and get the job done.
“At the end of the day, our aim is to win the match and advance to the next round of this competition.”
Adams also confessed his excitement at the large visiting crowd which will be attending the game.
There are expected to be over 1,000 City supporters making the trip to the East Midlands for the cup tie.
He added: “Having so many travelling supporters cheering the team on will certainly give the players a huge lift.
“It just adds to the spectacle and their presence makes such a difference, especially in a game like this.
“It was great to see them back at the weekend, and it made us all realise just how much they have been missed.
“The atmosphere they created against Exeter was fantastic and we are expecting it to be just as good, if not better in this one.”
