ANGOL LOOKING FORWARD TO EXETER CLASH

5 August 2021

Summer signing Lee Angol is excited for City’s Sky Bet League Two opening-day trip to Exeter City.

The Bantams will make the long journey down to Devonshire with the game at St James Park set to kick off at 3.00pm.

The forward confessed his eagerness ahead of this particular contest - as he hopes to make his debut in City colours.

He said: “It is going to be a tough game, against a good side, but we are all very excited for it. Getting off to a positive start is always important.

“Every single player has worked hard to get up to speed for this match and, of course, our aim is to win.

“We may be outnumbered as the away team, but seeing our travelling supporters will certainly give us even more motivation.

“Whenever a new season approaches, you always get excited, and we are aiming to achieve big things.”

Angol was also eager to reflect on what was a positive pre-season for him personally, as well as the entire City side.

The 27-year-old appeared in six of Bantams' seven pre-season outings, and found the back of the net on three occasions.

He added: “On a personal level, I felt as though this was the best pre-season of my career.

“I feel fit and strong going into the new season, which was the main aim at the beginning.

“Of course, it was also great for the entire team, and we gained some really positive results.

“We have all developed plenty of team chemistry after spending time together, and we can hopefully continue to build on this as the season goes on.”
