KELLEHER: ‘WE WILL BOUNCE BACK’

29 August 2021

City debutant Fiacre Kelleher believes the Bantams will bounce back from their 2-0 defeat to Leyton Orient in Sky Bet League Two.

The O’s netted twice in the second half at the Breyer Group Stadium which proved enough to condemn Derek Adams’ team to their first loss of the season.

While Kelleher was disappointed his side lost the game, he is confident the side will bounce back from the setback.

He said: “Unfortunately, we did not go to Leyton Orient and get the result we wanted.

“The first half was very even, but as soon as they opened the scoring, we were unable to find our feet and get back into the game.

“Even at this early stage of the season, we have proven we are capable of recovering from setbacks, so I am confident we will do it again.

“We have to accept that things did not go our way, but we just need to learn from this and move on.”

However, Kelleher did confess his delight at making his competitive debut for the Bantams.

The Irish defender joined the club from National League side Wrexham in the summer and is now hoping more minutes will come for him, after taking Heritage Number #1320.

He added: “Despite the circumstances, it was nice for me to make my competitive debut for the club.

“Witnessing our supporters while being out on the pitch was also fantastic and, once again, they were all excellent.

“Of course, it is never nice to see someone come off injured, so hopefully Paudie O’Connor makes a quick recovery.

“I have had to wait for my opportunity, but hopefully now, I can begin to get a few more games under my belt.”

The Bantams are back in action in the Papa John's Trophy against Lincoln City on Tuesday. CLICK HERE for full ticketing details.
